What is a
Guardian Puppy?
What is a guardian dog or puppy ?
Guardian dogs and puppies are the dogs and puppies that we keep for breeding.
Who do the pups go to?
Guardian puppies go to our guardian families. These are first choice pups that we keep for our breeding program. There is no expense for a guardian family to get a guardian dog or puppy…..but there is obligation.
Female Guardian pups / dogs come back to Brown’s Labradoodles for breeding ( about 4 days ) and they stay with us while the pups are born and weaned ( about 8 weeks ).
Males are needed generally for about 4 days and the need can sometimes be more spontaneous and un planned. It is very seldom that Brown’s Labradoodles needs a guardian family for a male. Probably once every 3-4 years.
Brown’s Labradoodles has 4 litters with a female dog before they retire. The guardian family has possession of the guardian dog, while Brown’s Labradoodles keeps the breeding rights. After a female has 4 litters the obligation has been met. Brown’s Labradoodles gets the pup / dog spayed / neutered and the pup fully belongs to the guardian family.
Brown’s Labradoodles is currently accepting applications for guardian families for female pups. Please fill out the form below if you would like to discuss being a Guardian Family.
